Thanet Independent Living Scheme
The Independent Living Scheme works to four principles
Rights: We ensure people are aware of their rights and are treated fairly.
Independence: We promote people's independence in everything they do.
Choice: We support people to have more choice on where and how they live.
Inclusion: We ensure people are included in the community.
Who are the staff at the Thanet Independent Living Scheme?
The Manager is Paul Tomlinson, who has 15 years' experience of working with people with learning or physical disabilities.
There is 1 Administration Officer, 1 Senior Support Worker, 8 Support Workers and 2 Permanent Relief Support Workers. We ensure staff have the right skills and training to do their jobs well. All new staff will complete an induction, which follows the Learning Disability Award Framework (LDAF). Everyone will have opportunities to do the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ).
As well as offering in-house training, we also send staff on external training courses for British Sign Language Level 1 (BSL), Autism, Asperger’s and Epilepsy training.
Support Plans and Reviews
The plan is developed with the person to ensure they understand what service we are providing. This will be reviewed six-monthly or sooner and updated to reflect any changing needs.
We are always looking at ways to improve our service to meet everyone’s needs.
We ask people to complete a yearly quality assurance questionnaire. The results are put in the newsletter and are discussed at the forum.
Types Of Support
We offer support for up to 65 people, including older people and people with learning and physical disabilities.
